A Glossary of Magickal Terms
Co-creationism - the belief that humans have within them the divine spark from the Creating Spirit or Deity that allows them to create their own reality and lay down their own path. It is this inner divine spark (aka spirit or soul) that allows us to make magick.
Deity |
Here at Seer&Sundry we often use the word Divine rather than any sort of concrete or gendered term for the Creating Spirit.

"People call God by many names: Higher Consciousness, the Universe, Divine Wisdom, to name but a few. Every person has a unique sense of the meaning of the word 'God.' To me, the concept of God means an invisible intelligence that animates our world and provides wisdom and love to guide our lives."
~Lynn A. Robinson, M.Ed.
"The pure and powerful love that rules the universe and lies within us all."
~Marianne Williamson

Intuition - From the Latin 'intueri' meaning "to see within." Webster defines as "quick and ready insight; the act or process of coming to direct knowledge without reasoning or inferring."
Carl Jung lists intuition as one of the four basic psychological functions (the other three are thinking, feeling, and sensation). He describes intuition as the function that "explores the unknown and senses possibilities and implications which may not be readily apparent." |
For the Spiritual Being, Intuition is far more than a hunch. It is viewed as guidance or as God talking, and this inner insight is never taken lightly or ignored.
~Dr. Wayne Dyer There comes a leap in consciousness, call it intuition or what you will, and the solution comes to you, and you don't know how or why. ~Albert Einstein Feeling is God's mirror; Intuition is God's telephone. ~Kenny Loggins |

Oracle Deck - a deck of cards created with both artistic inspiration and spiritual guidance in mind. Each one is different in not only the illustrations but also the meaning, number of cards, and how to use them. Most will come with a book written by the deck's creator to guide the reader.
Pendulum - To learn more about Pendulums, please see our blog post with videos no only about what a pendulum is but also its practical uses.
Tarot Deck
A deck of 78 cards consisting of 2 parts, the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana, that is used in divination to read past, present, future, inner self, and more. Each card has on it sacred symbols that can be read traditionally (through historical traditions of meanings drawn from Hermeticism, astrology, Kabalah, etc) or intuitively with our own truths and cultural meanings. Some view the deck as a sacred scripture because it offers up spiritual truths and guidance for anyone willing and open to reading it.

Witch
Our definition of Witch is a person who uses a magickal practice to change the world they live in and seeks out deeper meaning in all they do. These people do not have to have a religious practice or relate to a spiritual group, however, we do feel that spirituality, religious or ritual practice, and witchery goes hand in hand very well.
